Open Call#2 Winning Projects: The Results
Qryptix Post-Quantum Cryptographic Plugins and DevTools for Eclipse-Qrisp IDE
Qryptix is one of the winning projects of PQ-REACT’s second Open Call. Developed by Next-Tech Association and ASI Enterprise Aps under Use Case 4 Eclipse-Qrisp for PQC.
Key Results
The main result of the Qryptix project is a working software prototype that helps developers and organisations prepare for post-quantum cryptography. Qryptix supports the move from current cryptographic methods, which may become vulnerable in the future, to more secure methods that are designed to resist quantum-computer attacks.
The tool helps users check their code, identify weak or outdated cryptographic methods, receive suggestions for safer alternatives, compare different cryptographic options, and understand possible quantum-related risks. The project also produced a public website, a user guide, demonstration materials, workshop content, and communication materials to make the solution easier to understand and use.
Challenges and Implementation
Since being selected in PQ-REACT Open Call 2, the Qryptix team has worked on turning the original idea into a practical tool. We prepared the technical plan, developed the main software functions, created the user interface, tested the prototype, prepared the project website and guide, and presented the solution through workshops and demonstrations.
One of the main challenges was to explain a complex topic, post-quantum cryptography, in a simple and practical way for people who are not experts in quantum technologies. We addressed this by focusing on clear user workflows, simple explanations, practical examples, and supporting materials. Another challenge was combining several functions into one coherent tool. We overcame this through step-by-step development, regular testing, and improvements based on feedback from users and stakeholders.
Project Implementation and Quantum Research Influence
Qryptix will be implemented as a practical tool that can help developers, researchers, cybersecurity professionals, and organisations check whether their software uses cryptography that may be at risk in the future. The tool will support users in identifying weak cryptographic methods, understanding safer alternatives, testing different options, and planning their transition to post-quantum cryptography.
After the project, the consortium plans to continue improving Qryptix by fixing issues, adding more supported algorithms and programming languages, improving the recommendations, and testing the tool in more real-life situations. Qryptix can support quantum research by making post-quantum cryptography easier to test and understand in practice. It can help connect research results with real software-development needs and provide useful feedback on how organisations can prepare for a quantum-safe future.
