Happy 1st Year PQ-REACT

Happy 1st Year PQ-REACT

PQ-REACT has successfully concluded its first twelve months of implementation. As we look back, we feel that time flew, but our results reflection reminds us of the intense work and the great results we already managed to achieve. But this is just the beginning: we have just laid the ground for our future work in the post-quantum era!

Our 12-month recap

One of the most significant achievements came from Work Package 2, ‘’PQC Architectures, tools, and interfaces,’’ which focused on analysing the NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography Standardization process, particularly in the field of digital signature schemes. This is a rapidly evolving domain, but our experts have successfully navigated the landscape, mapping out critical insights that will guide our future work. Their deep dive into digital signatures will help ensure that the cryptographic techniques of tomorrow remain secure in the face of quantum computing advancements.

In parallel, Work Package 3, “Benchmarking PQC algorithms,” developed benchmarking tools to evaluate PQC algorithms, emphasising performance metrics and resilience against quantum and classical attacks. This also contributed to the Eclipse Qrisp project, whose group is also a proud member of PQ-REACT. Exciting things to come from the Quantum Programming domain!

The efforts of Work Package 4 ‘’ Pilot Demonstrators’’ and Work Package 5 ‘’Open Call Management and improvement of the Pilots’’ were equally crucial as they laid the groundwork for our Open Call. In the project’s first Open Call-DEVELOP quantum enthusiasts can choose between four use cases to develop and submit their proposal. There will be six winners receiving 50.000 euros to materialise their proposal. For this emerging domain, we aim to attract very interesting applications that will help us grow too. And don’t forget that the PQ-REACT project will have a second Open Call soon!

Another significant aspect of the project has been ensuring that our innovations are well-aligned with evolving legal and regulatory frameworks. Work Package 6, “Technology, legal analysis and implementation,” played an instrumental role in this area, providing critical insights into the legal and regulatory challenges associated with PQC technologies. We must not forget that policy and legislation are important tools for regulating such dynamic technologies as PQC.

Work Package 7,’’ Dissemination, Communication and Exploitation’’ is spreading the word for all the abovementioned activities focusing on communication, dissemination, and exploitation. Through this work package, the first Open Call was promoted to a diverse range of stakeholders and opened the path for establishing the SPQR cluster. And these are only a glimpse of the Work Package 7! Follow us on LinkedIn, X and subscribe to our newsletter to be in the hear of our communication efforts and join our trip to the post-quantum era.

Together, these efforts have created a strong foundation for PQ-REACT.
The project has achieved key milestones in its first year, and the groundwork laid promises even more exciting developments in the years to come.

Stay tuned and follow the PQ-REACT journey!
