Explore the PQ-REACT Open Call#1-DEVELOP!
PQ-REACT is welcoming potential applicants in its first Open Call: Develop.
But what exactly is an open call?
Open Calls allow for the submission of proposals on specific topics which can have the potential to get funded.
Why submit a proposal to an open call?
By submitting your proposal, you are one step closer to materialising it, gaining access to industry, and enhancing the research field! Open Calls provide financial support, helping to bring innovative ideas to life.
PQ-REACT will run two open calls that will allow Startups, SMEs, Universities & Research organisations, Non-profit organisations & foundations to obtain optimised solutions to solve cryptographic encryptions based on classic algorithms that currently protect data and infrastructure, and this way will enhance Europe’s leadership in the global cybersecurity economy, as PQC is a vital enabler for the protection and strengthening of critical infrastructure and services.
In this regard, the PQ-REACT project is glad to announce its #1 Open Call: Develop
Open Call #1 is designed to invite applicants who can Develop and provide innovative solutions to address the specific challenges of PQ-REACT in terms of PQC computational complexity and energy efficiency.
Develop and submit your proposal, which will be tested in the project’s pilot use cases:
- Use case 1: Smart Grid Meters
Smart energy meters are usually provided with limited processing and/or storage capabilities and are typically deployed in environments with low bandwidth. With these constraints, upgrading some of the functionalities protected by Asymmetric Crypto to rely on Post-Quantum Crypto algorithms can lead to several problems. The test scenario is focused on the Firmware Update functionality, protected by means of Elliptic Curve Digital Signatures (e.g., NIST P-256 Curve) to address these limitations. The pilot’s target will be to measure and address the challenges raised by migrating to Post-Quantum Digital Signature Algorithms. - Use Case 2: 5G and 6G architectures
Leveraging PQC and QKD hybridisation approaches related to 5G and their evolution to 6G architectures. PQ-REACT will investigate their application to significant use-cases, especially related to authentication and protection mechanisms for the network infrastructure, addressing security and performance requirements in highly-pervasive, critical networked environments. - Use case 3: Context Agility Manager (PQC Benchmarking)
Testing and validation of innovative services/apps using PQC algorithms, in terms of various parameters like CPU, memory, power consumption, bandwidth, etc., over a virtualised infrastructure via a monitoring tool provided by the project. The algorithms may be NIST approved or submitted in the NIST Post-Quantum Cryptography Standardization Call for proposals. - Use case 4: Eclipse-Qrisp for PQC
Practical validation and assessment of the resilience of new applications/solutions (including IoTs) using PQC techniques, exploiting the capabilities of an HPC or QC via a suite of tools (C++/Python/Qrisp). Additional tools like Quantum Approximate Optimization Algorithm (QAOA), Shor’s algorithm, algorithmic primitives (quantum Fourier transform (QFT), quantum phase estimation (QPE)) and solving QUBO problem instances with QAOA are available in Qrisp.
The Budget:
300,000 € 6 pilots 50,000 € per pilot
In this Open Call we are looking for:
- Start-ups & SMEs
- Universities & Research centers
- NGO & Foundation
To bring and test their PQC algorithms and external use cases on the PQ-REACT Quantum Computing Infrastructure!
